Bill: Curfews
Details
Submitted by[?]: Movimiento Cívico Justicialista
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2441
Description[?]:
None of us like curfews, it is an extreme measure that must be strictly regulated. Only local governments should be able to set them (so the curfew is localized where the problem is) and only if a state of emergency has been previously declared. Current legislation states "no curfews". While that might sound nice, the truth is that without this measures, The republic might not be able to defend itself from internal agressions (coup d´etat) or external attacks. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Curfew policy (curfew time to be determined in the bill description).
Old value:: No curfew policies may be established.
Current: The national government may impose curfews, but only if a state of emergency has been declared.
Proposed: Local governments may impose curfews, but only if a state of emergency has been declared.

Message | We are inclined to agree with the MCJ. In the event of an emergency, the citizens' safety and security should be paramount. The PDC is not fond of "trading liberty for secuity," but on a localized, temporary basis, we do see the potential for it being necessary. We reluctantly vote yes, as this bill makes sense, but we hope it must never be called upon. |
