This common sense legislation---while affirming our great Commonwealth's respect for Individual Liberties & Privacy from Government intrusion via the INVIOLABILITY---simply says that police Justice Dept. officials can open an individual's mail upon GROUNDED (probable) CAUSE!!! SPECIAL NOTE: The word "grounded cause" simply means PROBABLE CAUSE in which the Justice Dept. official and police can ONLY open a person's mail based on a WARRANT signed by an independent Judge. | Message | I couldn't disagree further. There is INDEED a way to ensure that this is not "abused." The Gov't can ONLY open mail, conduct wiretaps, etc. if it is signed and sealed by an INDEPENDENT Federal or State judge. If a person is convicted based on evidence obtained WITHOUT a warrant, my lawfirm will be the first to sue PRO-BONO to have such a conviction overturned. |
