MessageThe revokation of human life, even the life of an unborn human, is a horrific crime. Should a common killer be allowed this freedom?

MessageThe NCL recognizes the NMF's concern, but must also point out that during the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, there is literally 0% chance for the fetus to survive without the mother. At that point, it is not an autonomous being and cannot be considered one legally. The NCL would also like to point out that it is fallacious to equivocate abortion to murder.

Additionally, this is a vote for returning the rights of the people where they belong: with the people.

MessageWhether "autonomous being" or not, it is still a human life, one yet to mature and be birthed, but a person-to-be none the less. You talk of rights, but what of duty? The duty of a mother to her child, of a government to it's people. Surely, if we are not to live in anarchy, we must uphold our duty to protect the rights of the child.

MessageNCL, you must understnad this is a religious question. If you believe that we have souls, and that God created us through creatino, or evolutionary processes, then you believe, as a general rule, that once conception occurs, a soul is born. If it is a soul, it is murder. Also, fetus' are living beings regardless of their being attached to a mother or not, this is why "legally" if a man beats up a pregnanat woman and kills her baby, he's tried for murder.

MessageAs much of a religious question this is, you must first look at the a priori issue in this argument: is it correct for the government to force religious morals and ideals upon the Lodamese people? We ought to devolve this choice to the people. In this way, the people who are truly religious will choose not to have abortions because of their conflicting religious ideas. Let the people follow their own moral path.

MessageTo put it plainly, as much as some of us hate to admit it, our society allows abortion to BE a choice. No matter what religious background we come from, no matter our beliefs, we live in a society where half the population feels women should have this option, personal responsibility be damned. Those women desperate enough to want an abortion in the first place WILL find a way to have one, the option of clean, liscened facilities to acquire that should be provided, or at least allowed. The alternative of this, are young pregnant girls seeking help from facilities and people who may not be properly equiped for procedures like this.

At least for the first two trimesters, as much as it pains us, this is a necessary evil. However, we will never entertain the option of allowing partial birth abortions or anything in the third trimester. That child can be taken and kept alive after 4 or 5 months (earlier depending on the equipment) and the vast majority of those cases grow to live healthy lives.

Free Lodamun's stance is that while we're personally against abortion, it is, sadly, a service that must be kept.

MessageWe believe that abortion is the unnecessary taking of an unborn baby's life and should only be used in an absolute medical emergence in which the life of the mother or unborn child is at stake.
