Bill: Authorize Lethal Weapons in Civilian Police force

Details

Submitted by[?]: Indigo Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2442

Description[?]:

Imagine this situation, if you will.

You are a police officer, working the shady back alley ways of town. All of a sudden, you turn the corner and see a mugger holding someone against a wall with a gun acquired off the black market.

Now, what are you going to do? Take out your pepper spray of course! the chances of a specialized fire team being within 10 seconds away seem extremely unlikely to my party, as they should yours as well.

No, I firmly believe that the civilian police force should be allowed to carry and use lethal weapons. Remember, a strong police force means a weak crime syndicate!

MessageNo, if the above situation happened you would take out your TASER and would strike the criminal at range. The decreased odds of there being a firefight would reduce the risk of civilian or police casualties whilst still allowing the criminal to be arrested and taken through the Hobrazian judicial system.
Just because the police don't have standard issue firearms does not render them ineffective or unprotected.

Remember, an armed police force creates an armed crime syndicate.

MessageRanged Taser? 20 feet away whats going to work best? a taser or a gun? And aren't Crime syndicates already armed? If the police force is armed, it has a chance. Syndicates going to acquire guns with or without the police force being armed. Its a win lose situation and I agree on Wining

MessageActually, with a range of up to 35 feet the TASER is perfectly capable of dealing with any and all immediate problems by incapacitating the criminal and reducing the risks to the innocent.
And at the Emblem Party we would point out that crime syndicates are not a problem in this Country, so perhaps they should look to their own.

Random fact: Players who consent to a particular role-play by acknowledging it in their own role-play cannot then disown it or withdraw their consent from it. For example, if player A role-plays the assassination of player B's character, and player B then acknowledges the assassination in a news post, but then backtracks and insists the assassination did not happen, then he will be required under the rules to accept the validity of the assassination role-play.

Random quote: "Those who are responsible for the national security must be the sole judges of what the national security requires. It would be obviously undesirable that such matters should be made the subject of evidence in a court of law or otherwise discussed in public." - Unattributed member of the the House of Lords on the removal of trade union rights
