Bill: Local Governments Empowerment Act - I
Details
Submitted by[?]: United Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2442
Description[?]:
The United Party seeks, as a consequence of the unquestioned value of responsible government within sub-national entities, to grant certain powers to these in order to streamline the provision of services and goods within the Nation as a whole; this is particularly relevant given the variation in moral standards between urban and rural areas and the unhappiness which a solid and inflexible approach to the enforcement of laws and practices often incompatible with one or the other has caused. Moreover, it is expected and certainly hoped by the United Party that this Act should be the first of several, in accordance with these principles and the undoubted practicality of their implementation. |

Message | We are a country not a federation. Why not just let people chose their own laws? |

Message | Although it may surprise the Communist party to hear this (being, as they are, entirely out of touch with the needs and wishes of this Country) but it is a Known Fact that local administration increases popular satisfaction with government as a whole due to the understanding shown towards particular local issues which it may not be appropriate to consider on a national basis. It is also known that a majority of the population of certain sub-national entities supports the concept of decentralisation in itself, which suggests that the representation so far given to them by the existing parties has been entirely unsatisfactory. Furthermore, this proposal in essence does exactly what the Communists - unsurprisingly! - question why it does not! Its enactment will allow people to choose their own laws, exactly as I am sure the greater part of them would, if they had but the slightest opportunity to do so. |

Message | Though I believe that the local govts need more power than they have, I believe that the issues you bring up are issues that should be handled on a national level |

Random fact: When you join the game, you will find yourself with only zero seats. That's because your party's representatives haven't been elected yet. You need to establish your party's position on issues by proposing several bills that your party wants passed and sending them to vote. This raises your visibility and if you do it enough, you will win seats at the next election. |
