Bill: Unified Communications Privatization Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Citizen's Progressive Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2442
Description[?]:
Communications is a large market that is of great interest to many corporations. They of course, all want a part of it, and they all compete which gives the consumer the best possible deal. The corporations can do the best job possible in this market, with no real effort needed from the state. So, this act proposes that the state need not spend money on nationalized radio stations/television stations/post offices, in order to save money when corporations can do the job themselves perfectly. |

Message | We would point out that corporations do not always provide best value for the consumer as they wish only to increase their market share. In regards the media, this means producing programmes to appeal to the lowest common denominator in order to increase viewing figures and so maximise advertising revenue. Our current position allows for private media organisations to compete for market share whilst guaranteeing quality media to provide for educational and informational purposes, something the "market" is often very poor to provide. |
