Bill: Food Quality Information Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: New Passive Militarist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2095

Description[?]:

While it is not advisable to create a vast bureaucracy to enforce food quality standards, the people have the right to know the quality of the food they purchace. So let it be resolved that a nationwide standard for food quality be adopted that its suppliers may voluntarily accept. Those who do accept it then may advertise that they did so.

MessageOf course, this needn't be a burden on the taxpayer's money. This could be funded by a small certification fee paid by the businesses. Since compliance would be entirely voluntarily, businesses that pay the fee to be inspected and certified would, in effect, be buying an advertisement for the quality of their food.

MessageGood. So now, simply out of respect for legislative protocol, we shall wait a few more months, then send this to a vote.

MessageIf this scheme is profitable, it would be done by private companies. Perhaps the government should leave this to the private sector to handle.
