Bill: Cabinet Proposal of February 2443

Details

Submitted by[?]: Luthori Flower Children

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2443

Description[?]:

Since the old guys' parties wouldn't let us in, let's take the whole government from them. Libs, you and I can vote for it, and see what Teleurstelling does.

MessageMr Speaker,

I must voice my dissatisfaction! Here is my party campaigning for only the largest party to have the privilege to form a government by proposing cabinets: and how does that party repay us?

I yield the floor.

MessageMr. Speaker -

Look, I am just a dumb hippie. But it seems to me that I proposed an all-inclusive cabinet in 2442, which was the object of ridicule and scorn. Then your buddies the Tories put forth a counter-cabinet proposal which reserved the power in the Whigs, Tories, and CDP, completely excluding the winners of the election. Then the CDP demands early elections, which the Whigs and Tories support. The bill allowing the largest party to propose a cabinet has not been put to vote, and I wager it won't be put to vote until there are new elections, right? So by the time the Whig proposal becomes effective, there will be a different majority party vested with that power.

Trust me, I know that our time as the majority party is fleeting. Trying to keep a bunch of hippies engaged in anything for more than a few months is like herding cats. They smear themselves with Patcholie and just wander off into the woods, leaving me with all of the paperwork....

Ahem, nevermind. As I was saying, this is our opportunity. If Teleurstelling and the Libs come on board, we can take over the cabinent and vote down your elections. If another party wants to take the opportunity extended, lets talk.

I yield.

MessageMr Speaker,

My constitutional changes wll be put to the vote just as soon as they can garner 67% support. I proposed them because I believe it is what is best for the Holy Empire, not out of any partisan ambition.

As moderate centrists, we have always considered ourselves the natural party of government: the party everyone will include in their cabinet proposals, but it would appear that this time we were wrong.

I yield the floor.

Random fact: The influence a bill has on elections decreases over time, until it eventually is no longer relevant. This can explain shifts in your party's position to the electorate and your visibility.
