Bill: Civil Defence Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Luthori Green Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2095
Description[?]:
The threat of WMD attack, although small, still exists. Many nations have enacted legislation allowing the construction and use of WMDs. Although many within the Commonwealth of Luthori condemn such use, and are against our nation using such weapons, it is still necessary to protect the nations citizens from others, who would use such deplorable, savage, and barbaric weapons. Although similar legislation is currently before the congress in another bill, it does not require the shelters to be open to the public, so only those in government, their families, major contributors and their families are required to be protected. What is the point of government if their is no one left to protect. Must we govern over rebellious cinders. |

Message | This would be far too expensive. The surplus left over after my proposal to reinforce public buildings would be used to strengthen our military and police forces to prevent any attack. |

Message | In the absence of enough support for my Defence of the Realm Bill I will vote yes. Our military increases can come out of next year's budget. |

Message | yes, we will face the consequences: increased international respect, increased trust between us and our neighbors, more healthy business relationships as merchants need not fear war. those are consequences we can live with, i think. |

Message | DUP, you make it sound as if everyone in the world is out to get us. As far as I can tell from the forums, and the NFP can correct me if I'm wrong (your more active in the forums then me), we have no enemies, we have not participated in a war, except as neutral third parties, and the closest we can come to a threat is a country nearby supporting aggressive reunification with another country on the other side of the map. We're involved in at least one international treaty, many of our parties are involved in international party organisations, and the NFP has been involved in many efforts to foster peace in the world. We don't need to fear other nations, they like us, they are our friends. This proposal is a "just in case" measure. |
