Bill: Aid to Deltaria

Details

Submitted by[?]: Imperial Pluralism Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2446

Description[?]:

Cobura has threatened to invade Deltaria on a "peace-keeping" mission. Their desire to impose their political beliefs on a sovereign nation is despicable. Deltaria has requested our assistance, and, in order to secure the rights of our progeny to have a secure, independent polity, we must fulfill their request.

I propose that we deploy troops to Deltaria under Sekowan command. The number of troops is to be determined by the cabinet or by a later bill of the Apella.

This is our chance to become a major player in international diplomacy; we're stuck at the end of the civilized world--it is time that we assert our strength and gain a formidable image. Perhaps this conflict will give us the strength to begin colonization of Dovani without foreign interference.

MessageThe DSP is curious as to why we should support a country that is persecuting minority groups and deporting based on ethnic and religious grounds.

MessageThe DSP does not share the SCP's assessment on them on this.

We do not believe that we should be helping them when they have in the last few years eliminated freedom and democracy in there own country.

MessageIf by freedom and democracy you mean "anarchy"? Take a look back a little further, and you'll see that the "freedom and democracy" we eliminated was a short-lived period of outright anarchy, after socialist radicals destroyed 300 years of feudalist monarchy within the space of 3 years without the slightest concern to the economic or social consequences that entails. All we did was end the carnage and anarchy. Deltaria needs a firm hand in her transition to democracy, not deluded ideologues waving magic wands and hoping to legislate our troubles away.

Our road to democracy will be hard and troubled, but it will happen.

MessageThe DSP is not convinced, and as a socialist party itself is even more against aiding Deltaria now than it was before.

Random fact: The people in your nation don't like inactive parties. When you often abstain from voting for a bill, they will dislike your party and your visibility to the electorate will decrease significantly. Low visibility will means you are likely to lose seats. So keep in mind: voting Yes or No is always better than Abstaining.
