VAT = regressive, as poor people spend 99% of income on goods, where as the rich spend a negligible amount. even for luxury goods, when the working man wants to treat his wife to a diamond with the monarch crest than he shouldn't have to pay such a large mark up! |

Message | Considering the bizarre and senseless definition of luxury goods here, we must vote yes. Were luxury goods defined as yachts, mink coats, and such, we might vote differently, however as is, most people have the money to buy a significant number of non-essential items, yet by no *sane* definition luxury, we must obviously vote against such a tax. As this is a *national* sales tax on such, we'd rather see it as zero. Essential items we feel, of course, should never be taxed either. |
