Bill: Axis Mundi Sturm und Drang Partei Manifesto - New World Order (v)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2447

Description[?]:

Likatonian law requires that every individual serve a term in the military, upon completion of schooling. This means our potential reserve which can be called upon, is every citizen.

Thus - we clearly have a well regulated 'militia' and - as such - there is no requirement for individual citizens to be armed with lethal technologies.

If a citizen wishes to practise shooting, or other weapon techniques, he or she can easily accomodate these desires at their local militia Training Grounds.

MessageThis is a perfectly sensible Bill, especially considering the Ars Moriendi policy on it's own party security forces, and it's constant threats of use of force.

MessageWe have no wish to see a return to the days where individual Likatonian parties maintained private armies.

The tragedy in the wake of the Anakagrad Parklands Addresses must not be allowed to resurrect it's spirit in the corridors of power of the Convocation.

MessageCertainly not. There should only be one Army in Likaton territory, and that is accountable and run by and for the Likaton people.

MessageThe rights of the people to bear arms must not be infringed. Only thus can the people effectivly defend themselves against threats, either external of internal.

MessageSurely a well regulated militia is effective defence against threats from the internal danger just as much as against invaders?

We have 100% military service - our militia is potentially individual, neighbourhood, community, region, prefecture and national security.

MessageAs the militia is armed by, and controlled by, the government; who then defends the people against some future government less interested in their rights than our current one?

MessageWe do understand the concerns of the AM RLP... but we detect a conflict...

The AM RLP seem worried that there is no control mechanism to stop the militia from turning against the people.... but the militia IS the people - all of them. ALL Likatonians are present-or-former militia members. How does a body that consists of everyone in the nation - turn on 'the people'.

Another thought occurs to us - you have a problem with this idea of a militia turning on it's citizens... but couldn't an armed populace do exactly the same thing - without even the potential for control that is inherent in a military structure?

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar).
