Bill: Marijuana Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Al'Badara Republican Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2447

Description[?]:

We believe in the decriminalisation of marijuana and hashish throughout Al'Badara. On the other hand, we want to make illegal, the act of using heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, etc. We believe by legalising marijuana, we could free up our prison system and tax this weed to further enhance our budget.

MessageMarijuana is legal. And the law you seek to impose makes it so thats it. True; heroin, cocaine, and the like are not good for you, this bill would make Mushrooms, LSD, Mescaline, Peyote, and other soft drugs and psychedlics illegal as well. Also, if hard drugs are make illegal they will still be used, just in dark alleys away from rehab clinics and safety regulations. Al'Badara operates a large system of rehabilitation clinics to help those who have problems with drug use, we do not need a law to do so. The people need the freedom to choose; either to use drugs, not use drugs, or use and then not use drugs should circumstances arrise.

MessageThis won't "free up" any prison system, because cannabis is already legal. The partnership has already stated its views on the subject very recently, so I don't feel the need to rehash (sorry for the pun) the same discussion.

Messagewe agree with this bill however we want all drugs to be illegalised due to the harm taking these drugs do to users.

MessageWe will agree that heroin, cocaine and the like do harm, however this is after long-term use. Soft Drugs do very little harm, no more so then many things an average person living in today's world does. In fact, research is showing more and more uses for psychedelics.

Random fact: Particracy allows you to establish an unelected head of state like a monarch or a president-for-life, but doing this is a bit of a process. First elect a candidate with the name "." to the Head of State position. Then change your law on the "Structure of the executive branch" to "The head of state is hereditary and symbolic; the head of government chairs the cabinet" and change the "formal title of the head of state" to how you want the new head of state's title and name to appear (eg. King Percy XVI).

Random quote: "The superior man is distressed by the limitations of his ability; he is not distressed by the fact that men do not recognize the ability that he has." - Confucius
