Description[?]:

Why should students have to sing the national anthem each and every day? Time that could be better spent on homework, socialising, or a million other things that children and adolescents need we feel. Therefore we wish to change this to only on special occasions, such as national holidays or the like. It is just not neccessary or productive to sing it every day, indeed it would be better if they were to remember how special the anthem is, by only singing it on special occasions. Also, patriotism should be a choice, not a necessity.

MessageSinging the national anthem at the beginning of each day is a tradition in Aldegar, shared between children, parents and grandparents. It's harmless, good fun and provides a rousing, motivational start to the school day. It also instils in pupils a sense of discipline and a sense of their nation's history. Why stop singing it...?

MessageFor a few reasons, it seems to force patriotism onto the kids for one, if kids want to sing the national anthem with their grandparents, they can do it before school, it is not the schools place to do such things. Besides, the school is meant to give an unbiased view of things, to give pupils both sides of the story and let them learn, by singing Aldegars national anthem, its also promoting kids belief that Aldegar is always right in history, promoting bias, which is against what schools should stand for.
Aside from that, after the first fifty times singing it, it gives no sense of history, but rather becomes just another song, like the latest pop song or any other. By singing it on special occasions alone, it keeps it special, and keeps kids interested in the history behind it. If they sing it every day, the kids will stop looking at the words, they'll just come to them automatically, without them actually thinking about it.

MessageWe believe all the singing practice involved in singing the national anthem every day improves our children's vocal chords, and we warn that Aldegar may perform less successfully in international singing competitions if we abandon this tradition. Besides, being forced to sing the national anthem every schoolday is part of the experience of growing up in Aldegar, and gives people a subject of conversation at dinner parties. It also means that if a group of people get together and want to sing, they don't have to worry about finding a song everybody knows the words to, because everybody knows the words to the national anthem.

Random quote: As for rape, of course, that is a direct consequence of the capitalist system of oppression. Capitalism relies on fuelling division and resentment to sustain itself, and so it sets men against women, race against race and so on. Men rape women because they are being oppressed by capitalism, so they take it out on women. Under Communism, there will be no rape, because there will be a full and natural harmony and equality between the genders. ~ Friedrich Pfeiffer General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party
