Bill: Weapon Exportation Restriction Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Social Liberalism Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2449
Description[?]:
To protect the interests of Aloria, the Eye proposes that the export of weapons shall only be conducted with those who are trusted not to use them against us. Due to the nature of the current law, this change will have little real world effect, it is simply a precaution. We are open to debate. |

Old value:: The government must approve all arms sales on a case by case basis.
Current: The government must approve all arms sales on a case by case basis.

Message | We would certainly vote for this. The current law is too open ended. |

Message | Which ministry is charged with approving arms sales under current law? It seems to me like whether a given weapons sale will be approved would be a matter of which party is in control of that ministry. DRs agree with the policy in this bill. But members of the opposition coalition might favor selling weapons to our enemies because of their "laissez-faire" preferences. We're inclined to support this bill. But we're open to hear reasonable argument. |

Message | The government should have business in the free market. The market isn't part of government so we should not make this restriction. Also, we are not at war and need to to enact a law like this during peace-time, a law like this is perfectly acceptable during war, but right now it is only unnecessary restrictions on the free market. |

Message | You're ignoring the fact that wars can spring up unannounced. We don't want to be fighting a war against a country we just sold weapons to--weapons which will be used to kill Aloria's bravest. The notion of it turns the stomach. |

Message | We'll vote for this law, Eye. But it looks like it's too late to get it through this legislative session. |
Date | 02:27:25, August 29, 2007 CET | From | Industrialist Party of Aloria | To | Debating the Weapon Exportation Restriction Act |
Message | Private corporations, not us. The free market should not be part of government, only regulated when totally necessary. This is not necessary. |
