Bill: Freedom of Nature act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Secular Humanist party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2451

Description[?]:

Animals in zoos, are either raised in captivity, knowing nothing outside of life in a cage, or captured in the wild, and torn kicking and screaming from their homes and mates.

We believe the practise of keeping exotic animals in cages, for tourists to ogle, is cruel and unfair. If people want to see exotic creatures, they should take a trip to another country, hire a guide, and see them in their natural habitat. Seeing animals in zoos only encourages people to stay at home and not travel.

We propose to outlaw keeping exotic or endangered animals in captivity. And instead encourage and facilitate travel to see them in the wild

MessageZoos are useful scientific instruments. Abolishing them would endanger biological research as well as preserving animals.
