Message | It is a question of taking the long view. What greater future gain would be sacrificed for immediate reward? Practical considerations aside, as a matter of principle I must oppose shortened term limits. The public is fickle, constantly changing, and often for no apparent (or at least no logical) reason. If those in power at a given point in time are to have any chance of working toward the good, they must have as much insulation as possible from the inconstant tides of democratic opinion. |
