Bill: Agriculture Information Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: freedom party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2097
Description[?]:
This bill realizes that we as elected officials, make mistakes. We often ban or remove things which end up being beneficial. That is why we feel that the government should step out of the way in terms of determining what is used on crops. We realize that information is the strongest power. As long as farmers and stores are required to label what is ON the food (much like ingredients list whats IN) that consumers can make these decisions on their own. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy concerning the use of pesticides.
Old value:: The government approves and regulates agricultural chemical use.
Current: The government approves and regulates agricultural chemical use.

Message | We strongly support. This is a very simple bill that will require minimal regulation while still protecting the people of Saridan. |
Date | 17:18:28, August 15, 2005 CET | From | Enlightened Socialist Party | To | Debating the Agriculture Information Act |
Message | There must still be regulation to ensure everything put on the crops is safe. We very much doubt absolutely everyone knows exactly what each and every chemical does. There must be some minimum standards, as we have now - otherwise it is lke putting cyanide in Tic-Tacs mentioning it by an advanced chemical formula and then claiming the consumer can 'decide for themselves' to buy or not. |

Message | Obviously the government would set strict standards for labeling. Not something couched and hidden. |
Date | 20:17:28, August 15, 2005 CET | From | Enlightened Socialist Party | To | Debating the Agriculture Information Act |
Message | But there still needs to be things that are illegal to put into crops, consumer choice or not. |
Date | 21:18:14, August 15, 2005 CET | From | freedom party | To | Debating the Agriculture Information Act |
Message | So say you. Consumers can decide for themselves. If things are mislabeled or if they are not upfront, these companies make themselves liable. Thus taking away that precious money greedy capitalists love so much. |
