Bill: the Choice act.
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberal Party for Equality
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2097
Description[?]:
By banning such practices as pornography and prostitution, we have driven them underground, where they may no longer be regulated and controlled by the government. This creates a lot more degeneracy and disease than keeping these practices out in the open would have done. People should have a freedom to do what they want, so long as it is not harmful to themselves or others, and by banning these things we are turning a blind eye to the elements of society who will always seek them, legal or not. We also have a duty to educate our teenagers about sexual practices, so that they understand the risks of sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancy, and so that they can be helped to understand the changes their bodies are going through at puberty. These lessons do nothing to increase promiscuity among teens, as they can be used to preach abstention. |

Message | We will never support such hedonism! The day these things come to pass will be a dark day in the history of Likatonia. It is the moral obligation of every true Likatonian to oppose this sexual decadency. We will resist any such measures. |
Date | 11:38:13, August 15, 2005 CET | From | Söhne der Freiheit | To | Debating the the Choice act. |
Message | Also, the bill's title implies that those who oppose these measures are being dishonest, which is an unfounded claim. We will never support proposals 1 and 2, and 3 only if it is guaranteed that abstention rather than protection is taught. |

Message | Agree with 1 & 3 just not two at this point |

Message | CCU: by honesty, I meant that these things are happening anyway - we have to bring them out into the open so that they can be conducted honestly rather than feeding the criminal gangs and spreading corruption behind the backs of the government. |

Message | surely you see that that is also true of prostitution? we can ensure that the women in question are getting fair working treatment and disease protection, rather than letting them become part of the criminal world. |

Message | They ruin society and destroy our moral fiber. I'd go so far to say they don't deserve fair working treatment and disease protection. |

Message | All 3 proposals support individual freedom and individual responsibility. Therefore we will support them, while deploring the title of the bill as we feel that is unfairly attempts to imply dishonesty on tghe part of the opponents. To my friends in the CCU, I would like to point out that only by allowing people to make a free choice of moral or immoral actions, can people truly chose to be moral. There is no virtue or sin associated with a forced action, only with a personal and free choice. |

Message | I will change the bill name - it was not intended that way at all, as I have explained, but if it going to be taken that way... what is this 'moral fibre'? it sounds like pretty weak stuff, that, if it can be destroyed merely by something immoral being legal... |
Date | 23:01:50, August 16, 2005 CET | From | Liberal Party for Equality | To | Debating the the Choice act. |
Message | there renamed the choice act, because it allows people to choose whether they want to demean themselves or not, and gives children the ability to choose, by informing them |
