Bill: Consolidation of Power Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Secular Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2452
Description[?]:
The Secular Party recognises that the country is in dire financial straits and knows that something must be done about it. One of the many areas where our nation can afford to spend a little less is the administration of local government. Given that the position of 'mayor' is almost entirely ceremonial and there is already an individual who has received the approval of the majority of the population in an election, why hold more merely to decide who gets to open hospitals when they can be appointed by the central government? The Grand Council of the Secular Party |

Message | We support Article 2 but not Article 1. The position of mayor is hardly ceremonial in a nation like ours; our central government does not (and should not) have the resources to administer the laws of every city in the country. Senator Jacques Xbalanque |

Message | The local governments have no control over anything significant (and for good reason), why then should we expend the time and money to hold elections for these pompous bureaucrats? The Grand Council of the Secular Party |
