Message | Well of course it is, otherwise you would not be able to propose it. Tariffs, while designed to insulate the affected industry, only serves to hurt the overall economy of the nation, since its consumers are now possibly deprived of more variety, lower prices, better quality, and even technology as the higher competition would force domestic industry to concentrate on improvement and innovation. Any economist or modern historian worth their salt will tell you that tariffs are a great way to sink your own society into depression. |
