| The DSP has come to realize we have no national holidays, that is holidays in which are recognized by the state that thusly allow state employees have the day(s) off. We believe to create a better cultural and work atmosphere we should create some national holidays. The DSP proposes the following two; Summer Celebrations: June 27th to July 10th, this would apply to government jobs, not schools, who already have a summer break. Halloween: The 31st of October be a half-work day and November 1st be a day off. This would be for both jobs and schools. Winter Holiday: There are many different holidays celebrated in December, and as such December 19th to January 5th be a break from work. This would be for jobs and schools. |

| Message | As Sekowow is a secular nation, Plato's Republicans wonder about the choice of Halloween. Additionally, we feel that it would be more appropriate to move the Summer Celebrations back to better fit with the Summer Solstice. A period from June 18 to July 2 may be more appropriate. |

| Message | Halloween is a secularized holiday that really does'nt represent the other celebrations it's based on, so we don't see it as a problem. We suggested the summer time period because schools do not stop for summer break until the end of June, and thusly the time we gave would allow for the greatest amount of time for kids and there family/friends who work to spend time together. Plus July 5th is Fireworks day, and we would not want people to miss that celebration. Also, we mean this for everyone to come up with ideas for national holidays, so if the PRP has any suggestions for holidays, please do submit them. OOC: Apart from the fact I figure it makes for cool RPing having these, I need some to help with the culture section I'm gonna start on for the wiki. |

| Message | An Independence day is a good idea, we/I like the idea of coming up with a history and stuff for it (not by myself). As for National Coming Out Day, it is a good idea to be a federally recognized day, but do we really need the day off for it? |
