Bill: Armed Forces Reform Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Revolucia Partio de Koburo

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2456

Description[?]:

"Cobura does not need chemical or nuclear weapons. No nation does. Such weapons are of no military value whatsoever and their sole purpose is to cause indiscriminate suffering and destruction. We can permit ourselves to give in to the temptation of producing such weapons. They will only come back to haunt us, and I don't wish to see Cobura destroyed in Terra wide nuclear holocaust. Please, think of the consequences of such monstrous weaponry.

The intelligence service should not have a license to run riot in other nations. They are supposed to protect us, not cause suffering and unrest to others. They can protect us fine well by simply monitoring known threats and intercepting their communications. It would be immoral and a threat to national sovereignty to go any further.

Finally, the defence industries need to be completely state owned. The Armed Forces should not be paying billion's to corporations for weapons and equipment we could easily produce ourselves. The Armed Forces should decide the new weapons we need, not men in suits. By bringing things under our control we can produce more effective and worthwhile weapons systems."

-Erik von Witzland, Defence Minister

MessageFunny that no one actually has a coherent argument against what I propose. I'll just take that as a sign of moral victory.

Random fact: The voters enjoy active parties who take upon themselves the initiative to create laws.

Random quote: "If we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people to not kill each other? Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want." - Mother Teresa of Calcutta quotes
