Bill: Increasing Personal Freedoms

Details

Submitted by[?]: Enlightened Cosmic Brotherhood

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2459

Description[?]:

To limit any kind of ability of two consenting adults to choose how they wish to live is to create a government so powerful as to be superior to it's people. This is not right. The government should be ruled by the people, not the other way around. Furthermore, to say that two consenting homosexuals cannot have rights is no different then saying consenting multi-racial couples should not be able to marry.

Discrimination is discrimination, no matter how you color it.

MessageHow can the UPU support this bill which is clearly against the Sunnah?

MessageThe UPU takes a progressive interpretation of Islamic teachings. The Quran states that marriage is reserved for heterosexuals, but it also teaches tolerance. Our faith also teaches respect for the dignity of the human person. Criminalizing some types of sexual activity is not warranted by a progressive interpretation of Islamic teachings.
