Bill: Police and Military National Service and Cooperation Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Cooperative Commonwealth Federation

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2459

Description[?]:

We believe that it is wise for the state of Kazulia to have a military and a police force working together. As well we believe it is also good experience and gives all Kazulian citizens a choice of skills if they participate in one or the other at least in one tour of duty.

MessageYes, that is perfect. A disciplined workforce is stable and strong and a broad basis of police enforces maximum efficiency in case of undesirable discourse. It's perfect. Can I vote twice?

MessageWe do not disagree with this in principle, but at the moment we need our best and brightest youth in the workforce. The chances of war at the moment are remote, and if they ever increase in the future it will be wise to have a strong economic base to weather the conflict.

MessageWe can't make compulsory going to the military or go to the national service! We need the young intellectuals in the working force. The CWP is right!

MessageWe simply cannot waste our citizens on a task as utterly meaningless to the advancement of our nation as military service! Those citizens you coerce into being soldiers, or force to take lesser pay to be a mere civilian servant, could be doing something productive, like working. I'd rather have our people producing goods or services that actually benefit our nation than forcing them to waste their talents in the military.

I'm also suspicious of allowing the military to intervene with police matters, if only because "serious emergencies" is a very vague term.
