Bill: Educational Reform Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Red Dawn

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2461

Description[?]:

We want to ban private schools - charter schools excepted - because we feel that your parents income shouldn't decide where you are educated. We also want the goverment to pay for all higher education - more educated citizen's, more benefit for our nation. The reason we want to ban home-schooling is that we believe it to be better for children to go to school with other children rather than be home with your parents, which can be a serious blow to your social skills.

MessageWe are willing to consider removing suggestions if you provide good arguments as to why - and especially how keeping the current legislation isn't increasing the gaps between rich and poor, education-wise.

MessageSP/E/CT/RUM strongly opposes Article 1 as it would reatly decrease the diversity of educational options available. The other articles are a mixed bag, but we cannot support as long as Article 1 is included.

MessageThat would be valid, if it was the choice of the concerned student and not their parents. Homeschooling might have some benefits - we can't see them - but it can also be very dangerous and hurtful to children.

MessageIkradon's current homeschooling law requires the consent of all children over twelve. ((It was part of the bill reestablishing homeschooling)).

Random fact: Players who consent to a particular role-play by acknowledging it in their own role-play cannot then disown it or withdraw their consent from it. For example, if player A role-plays the assassination of player B's character, and player B then acknowledges the assassination in a news post, but then backtracks and insists the assassination did not happen, then he will be required under the rules to accept the validity of the assassination role-play.
