Message | Ah, so now, rather than allowing them to save up and buy a home, those too poor to get onto the housing market will be made homeless? |

Message | No...they can rent if they can't affored to buy. |
Date | 21:20:21, August 18, 2005 CET | From | Social Dynamist Party | To | Debating the Fair Housing Act |
Message | Renting a house is generally very uneconomical. If demand increases, there will simply be too few rentable properties, and an increase of demand will lead to a price rise, which will leave poorer families unable to afford shelter. |

Message | Then investors will build more rental property. We call it the "Theory of Supply and Demand." |
Date | 00:58:07, August 19, 2005 CET | From | Social Dynamist Party | To | Debating the Fair Housing Act |
Message | The theory fails to take into account the facts firstly that practical considerations, like the time taken to build a house, mean that current residents in these schemes will be homeless for a significant period of time, and secondly that there are minima below which price it is unprofitable to operate and there are people who may not be able to afford such minima. |

Message | SDP, Read the bill. Properties already utilized as public housing will remain so. Also, you minima will drop as the housing market swells due to fewer people getting free housing. |
Date | 23:40:00, August 19, 2005 CET | From | Social Dynamist Party | To | Debating the Fair Housing Act |
Message | National schemes, yes, but not locally owned housing. <|Ok, I assumed that, as in RL, the housing would be regionally managed, but fair enough|> The minima to which I referred are minima due to absolute costs unaffected by demand. |

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, special care must be taken to ensure realism is maintained when role-playing a government controlled by an ethnic and/or religious minority. If it is to be supposed that this government is supported by a majority of the population, then this should be plausibly and sufficiently role-played. The burden of proof is on the player or players role-playing such a regime to demonstrate that it is being done realistically |
