Description[?]:
The first part of the bill is aimed removing the saftey nets in our economy. This, while at first glance may appear extreme, is important if we want to foster a true spirit of entrepeneurship. If the government is there to bail out any failing buisness, how is that really different from blatant protectionism? Competition, true competition is important in an economy. Our society is one with a strong welfare position, as well as high levels of free education, meaning that people with a buisness will receive a hand up from the government if the buisness fails. This leaves us in the great position of being able to do our best to encourage growth and competition in our economy, while not having to worry about the more painful side effects of free market capitalism. It will safley ensure that only the fittest buisnesses survive in our economy, making us truley world class. The current law seems at odds with economic theory, surley if a buisness is providing a vital service, its role in the market will either be strong, or if it does somehow fail, its role in the market will quickly be filled by someone who notices a gap in vital services. The current laws undermine competition, but there is no assurance they actually help. The second part is aimed at allowing more freedom in buisness, by adopting a more moderate and less restrictive stance on DMC's. Why restrict the freedom's of our citizens, when we can use economic insentive to encourage DMC's, while allowing people to have a choice? |

Message | We in the PRP disagree with these proposals and with the rationale behind them. Firstly, the Government does not "bail out" failing Mom and Pop corner stores. The Government nationalizes failing industries which provide vital goods or services. Imagine for a moment if a terrible storm wreaks havoc across our prairie regions and cripples the output of farmers. If we provide no sort of relief then our nation's seasonal crop supply will be drastically reduced, to the detriment of all. As for no longer requiring DWC's, this bill goes from providing fewer handouts to businesses to providing a new handout in the second proposal! As it stands, the Government simply requires DWC's and provides no incentive. This bill proposes that we provide subsidies and tax relief for a business action that we currently require. What business which has an existing DWC would not simply keep it and take what amounts to free Government money? |
