Bill: Missionary Position and Religion Taxation
Details
Submitted by[?]: Independent Centrist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2465
Description[?]:
Our nation has seen a rise in foreign missionaries illegally penetrating our borders despite our regulation that they apply for a visa. Recently, Independent Centrist Party officials met with a group of detained foreign missionaries who were going door to door at dinnertime attempting to convert residents to their religion. They insisted, “God’s laws are superior to your nation’s laws.” Although the ICP respects their conviction, this is not a sufficient reason to violate the integrity of our borders and laws. Missionaries that feel the merits of their faith are insufficient to attract new membership and thus resort to evangelizing shall not be permitted within our borders. In order to promote fairness, religions should also be taxed at the same rate as any business regardless if the income is considered a donation or not. Individuals that donate are receiving a religious service in return no different from that of a business providing psychotherapy, motivation, or life coaching. |

Debate
These messages have been posted to debate on this bill:

Message | The Outer Church applauds this effort to eradicate superstition. The idea that there is some power higher than the government that the people should give their loyalty to is not a new one, but it is still dangerous and subversive. When the people feel torn between two powers, one real and one imaginary, the conflict this causes destroys efficiency and erodes the very pillars of society. Thusly, to maintain the integrity of the Machine, we come out in full support for this bill. |

Random fact: When you join the game, you will find yourself with only zero seats. That's because your party's representatives haven't been elected yet. You need to establish your party's position on issues by proposing several bills that your party wants passed and sending them to vote. This raises your visibility and if you do it enough, you will win seats at the next election. |
