Details

Submitted by[?]: Action

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2465

Description[?]:

So you wish to goto the other extreme, the Tombstone Reforms have freed the media and the press from the control of Finance and the Copitalist propagandists and you and your Internationalist friends wish to consolidate it into a machine of Government propaganda!
Actions begs to the accepting and misguided parties to reconsider their actions, Value the Importance of opinions which differ from that of the state, and from that of Finance and the controllers of Finance. I, Beg of you, think of what it is you are doing. Currently the press and the media are composed of small community and opinion papers all of which work in competition and opposition to gain a higher level of journalism and a more complete truth, A state media, always weither intentional or not, turns itself towards the agenda of the governing parties, supports only party views and conceals the truth in the interest of continued control of the press.
The Press and the flow of Information Must be Free and uncontrolled, if any one party be it government, company or belief gains control of the majority of the press then so democracy dies, Democracy and Liberty cannot exist without the free flow of information and the freedoms to speak the truth and not be constricted by market pressures or government interference. Unless the Press is independent and capable of its own thoughts, its on opinions and its own journalism then Tyranny is victorious and absolute weither obvious and open in its totality or not.
If you seek to hand Cildania and her people back into slavery and servitude then continue to support this bill, but if you value at all the liberty of your people and your nation then I urge and beg of you to strike this bill howling from this parliament and allow the will of the Nation and her people to be their own, pray not revive the dictatorship of the single press.
-Kienböck Oct. 62 in response to the bill which destroyed the Freedoms of the Press.

The funding is never cut, even if said stations boardcast anti-government propaganda, funding continues as this bill is for the absolute freedom of the press and the media without either government or financial control. The free flow of information is paramount and without it there can be no democracy.

Article 3

Proposal[?] to change A national radio station subsidized by the government.

Old value:: The government subsidises a national press for educational and informational purposes.

Current: The government subsidises a national press for educational and informational purposes.

Proposed: All Newspapers and periodicals are owned by independent non profit making cooperatives which are subsidised by the government

--All Tombstone Bills held in debate will be passed onto vote weither or not there is a chance of success to clear the debate table and allow the bills to be used as definitions of stance. This precaution is part of the dissolvement of Action following the attempted Tombstone overthrow of government and the oncoming trial of the Tombstone Leadership and involved party members.--

MessageThe problem is rooted in the fact that a number of the Tombstone leadership are Hebileean and to further compicated matters, Free Hebileean Unionists and as such speak Helileean the majority of the time, this plays buggery with their Cildanian-English spelling.
By Inaction JLC is showing their support for Dictatorship and Government Control of the Press.

MessageSo media payed for by private enterprise has corporate bias, but media payed for by government doesn't have government bias? At least the corporate media is supported VOLUNTARILY.

"Control" means power of force means the guys with the guns... only a government can control, and control is what it does regardless of the media being run by government or merely payed for by government.

The JLC will only support media law that is free from ALL government control.

MessageOnly the Independent Media is free, If Finance controls the press then the press is run in the interests of finance and not in the interest of journalism and free flow of information, The press mogul uses the press to endorse only opinions which protect his interests.
The Action proposal is independent journalism which is not governed by anyone except its own editor and staff, it serves its community and is free from censorship, If the press is able to be paid for by private finance then not only is it controlled absolutely in what it can print by he who pays for it, but it is forced to resort to sensationalist and false media in order to raise sales, Countries were the media is entirely privatised feature false news which is presented as thought it were journalism but is paid for by companies as advertising and show biased views of the product.
Sensationalist and Financial controlled media forces its will upon the people and is used to force the Liberal impossibilities and propagandas of Finance onto the people.
Independent non-profit media which is subsidised absolutely with no provisors to cut funding for the broadcast of any opion is Free and Liberated in that it serves no master but itself and is still entirely voluntarily, one can choose not to accept funding.
Currently finance has more control over our nation than governments and you need to seriously look at the definitions of freedom.
Control means the domination by a single power be it government or financial, weither that power be enforced by military strength or money power, and the fact of the matter is Money has more power and more ability to absolutely control and dominate a nation than military strength.

But this debate isn't happening as theirs no-one to have it as Action is tied up in its Drastic attempt to protect the Nation and National Interests. And your not in a position for your uninformed quibbling.

MessageMoney Power is a contradiction in terms. You can't hold money to a person's head and make them do whatever you want (if they do what you want, then they chose to of their own free will). But you can with guns, and you can with government. In the end it comes down to freedom and choice: what laws protect it, and what laws take it away. All the insults and all the convoluted circular reasoning in the world won't change reality for you.

Message[[Would you then suggest that the Corporate Executive has no power? that the Landlord has no power over his tenants? That the large chain stories which buy cheaply in bulk has not the power to force the small firms out of business? That goods imported cheaply from slave labour abroad has not the ability to force Cildanian factories to close due to their inability to beat international prices? That the Media Mogul who purchases a monopoly on a nations press has not the power to influence its readers or hold back vital information until it is too late to prevent a mistake in the moguls favour?
What do you think Power is? the ability to fire a bullet, or the ability to control the lives of others without their consent. Look at the world, who has the most power, Finance or Government? If you take more than a glance you will realise that its not the latter.]]

MessageThe corporate executive cannot force employees or stockholders or customers into support. The landlord cannot force people to rent from him. The large chain cannot force customers into their stores. The small businesses cannot force their customers to remain. Foreign factories cannot force domestic factories to close, nor force customers to buy from them. The media mogul cannot force customers to believe everything they hear, nor can he say anything he wishes and force customers to keep listening.

It's all done by choice, all done voluntarily, all done with agreement from everybody, trading value for value.

Power is using force to remove choice, power is forcing someone to obey your will. Power is something only gunmen, robbers, mobsters and despots have the ability to use.

It appears our argument is one of semantics.
