Bill: Arms Availability Act of 2465
Details
Submitted by[?]: Plato's Republican Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2465
Description[?]:
Considering the ongoing diplomatic difficulties between the Western and Eastern Terran powers, this bill seeks to better prepare and secure our citizens. The right to own and bear arms is a long-standing Sekowan fixture, and this bill seeks to expand and clarify two points regarding firearms and the average citizen. Firstly, this bill proposes that all citizens of Sekowo be permitted to own any type of weapon and be permitted to carry it anywhere, with the permission of the property owner. Secondly, this bill proposes giving citizens the right to carry any weapons they might own in any way they see fit, including concealed on one's person. It is the hope of this bill that national security and the cultural mentality be improved concerning firearms and the ongoing foreign policy debates. |

Message | We are going to vote yes on this, but we do have reservations. We worry about guns being easily avaliable for children, and the dangers that are present if for example, rocket launchers are readily avaliable to the average citizen. We would like perhaps to see some sort of gun education/mandatory training course i nthe aftey uses of higher grade weaponary in the future. However, as we trust the PRP's judgment on this issue, we shall vote with them. |

Message | Education and training courses will be (and are!) widely available, and the actual purchasing of firearms is still controlled by a strict licensing system. This bill is simply widening options for the average user. Do not forget that a large portion of the population engages in mandatory military service, and firearms are still sold only to qualifying adults. |
