Message | The current legislation doesn't say that public buildings do NOT "feature provisions for Civil Defence", or say anything to exclude private citizens. This change of the law may have the unfortunate side-effect of actually reducing the number of shelters. |

Message | What the current law says is that Federal Gov't is RESPONSIBLE for building and maintaining a network of shelters which is assumed to be INDEPENDENT gov't owned buildings. However, ask yourself this: if there is a nuclear attack, what if the NEAREST shelter from a person is 5 miles??? Wouldn't it be easier for people to find safety if the Gov't ordered that all buildings--whether gov't owned or privately owned--that have a PUBLIC ACCOMODATION [apartments, co-ops, office buildiings] be equipped with basement shelters??? |

Message | We are glad to see this bill die - the CWFP seem to assume everyone lives in cities, where almost all 'public' buildings are. We in the AM SuDP care about those in AND out of the cities. |
