Message | We feel that this is handy to keep statistics on the number of animals, and that this is necessary to take preventive measures when dangerous diseases amongst certain animal species break out (for instance, informing the owners of domesticated animals to keep their animals inside, etc...) and for distributing vaccins to prevent dangerous diseases (which might infect humans as well). |

Message | Against this is just unnecessary and doubtlessly expensive beaurocracy that has an other purpose. Vaccination programs can be (and in other countries are) carried out without having to register every animal in the country on some funds-sucking government database. [OOC: That's what happens in Britain anyway.] |

Message | We agree with the LIP |
Date | 13:18:25, August 19, 2005 CET | From | RSDP - Democratic Front | To | Debating the Domesticated Animals Registration Act |
Message | Another reason why we should register all domesticated animals is that many people dump their pets somewhere when they leave on vacation. To prevent this from repeating, we must register all domesticated animals so that we can track those who abandon their animals like that down and if necessary prevent them from doing so again. |

Message | "Vaccination programs can be (and in other countries are) carried out without having to register every animal in the country on some funds-sucking government database." But vaccionation programmes are more efficient if all domesticated animals are registered, and it's not that expensive to do so. |

To prevent this from repeating, we must register all domesticated animals so that we can track those who abandon their animals like that down and if necessary prevent them from doing so again." So now you're proposing that not only do we waste billions of Rutas on building up a pet database, but we should also send people round to the house of everyone registered on said monolithic waste of money and check that the pet is still there, and if it isnt then we should begin an investigation into each of these people wasting millions more rutas? |

Message | Against. A huge waste of money |
Date | 17:20:35, August 19, 2005 CET | From | RSDP - Democratic Front | To | Debating the Domesticated Animals Registration Act |
Message | No, that's not what I say, I say that if a pet is registered they can't just dump it in a forest, they will be found. That's not a huge waste of money, it can be done with a very low budget. |
Date | 20:14:54, August 19, 2005 CET | From | Liberal Imperialist Party | To | Debating the Domesticated Animals Registration Act |
Message | If every registered household is not routinely searched, how will anyone ever know the pet has been dumped? |
Date | 22:52:53, August 19, 2005 CET | From | RSDP - Democratic Front | To | Debating the Domesticated Animals Registration Act |
Message | If the pet concerned is found, or if that family buys a new pet on a regular basis, the matter can be investigated. |
Date | 23:18:18, August 19, 2005 CET | From | Freedom Party | To | Debating the Domesticated Animals Registration Act |
Message | To register a domesticated pet is an infringement on peoples freedoms. We vote against! |
Date | 00:38:14, August 20, 2005 CET | From | Liberal Imperialist Party | To | Debating the Domesticated Animals Registration Act |
Message | "If the pet concerned is found, or if that family buys a new pet on a regular basis, the matter can be investigated." How would they know who it belonged to? And how could they ever press charged? The people in question would jsut say that it ran away and they didnt know anything about it. What you're essentially proposing is that we spend massive amounts of money to achieve almost nothing at all. |
Date | 08:57:49, August 20, 2005 CET | From | RSDP - Democratic Front | To | Debating the Domesticated Animals Registration Act |
Message | We would be spending virtually nothing. Damn libertarians, always exaggerating about the costs of a project... I know that the people in question would just say that it ran away, but if that happens year after year... |
Date | 11:39:39, August 20, 2005 CET | From | Liberal Imperialist Party | To | Debating the Domesticated Animals Registration Act |
Message | You're saying it doesnt cost money to keep a record of the names, addresses, <useless information> etc on millions of animals, which will have to be constantly updated (and I mean constantly) as they die, and new ones are born, and on top of that you want to employ people to periodically go round to peoples' houses and question then about where their animals are? |
Date | 17:04:32, August 20, 2005 CET | From | RSDP - Democratic Front | To | Debating the Domesticated Animals Registration Act |
Message | That last thing I did not say. And it's a matter for local governments, the only costs are the new forms. |
