Bill: A New Vanuku for the Future Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Vanuku Corporate Alliance
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2469
Description[?]:
The President of the Union takes to the airwaves: Citizens of Vanuku! Our nation has grown stale. Political participation is at an all time low. Some parties don't even bother showing up to vote. Why? Why must our nation fall into such a doldrum, and become dullsville, square city, population: you? We in the VFA are not to reason why, we are but to vote and die! And, thus, I unveil to you, my grand proposal to reinvent Vanuku and once again make us shine on the world stage! We propose to turn Vanuku into the world's first corporate nation! Every citizen will become a "Class A" stockholder, owning one share of the nation! Naturally, we cannot let foreigners buy up our nation, thus the citizenship requirement is necessary and a promise. We will revamp our government to match the structure of Fortune 9000 companies, which are proven in the workplace and the international scene! The President will become the CEO, the legislature a Board of Directors made up of stockholders. Naturally the parties can still organize as they see fit, to better educate the people of their positions. We plan to expand the boardroom to ensure that there are plenty of seats for even the smallest of parties to get their fair representation on the board. Government will become more efficient! Why, as a corporation, we have the efficiency of business with the need to take care of the environment, welfare, and education. Costs will go down, leaving the government with enough cash to fund social programs, a strong military, and all the things Vanukuans like. With a corporation, we can guarantee employment, "nationalize" industry, because industry and the nation will be exactly the same! Privatization, or nationalization? The same! This appeals to ALL ideologies! Your support is requested, and we think this proposal appeals to your needs! Plus, this proposal will finally allow Vanuku to achieve the dream of spaceflight by freeing up capital to continue work on our grand international space station! Vanuku cannot lose! Parties! Vote for this bill. Vanuku needs a kick in the pants to get us started on the world stage once again! We must revitalize our nation! And, in a personal note, I, Ted Fujiwara, announce that effective the final date of my term, I am retiring from the Presidency. I will spend my last days in office on this legacy proposal. I do not want monuments or statues or cities named after me, I only want the best for Vanuku. I have enjoyed a good run with the VFA, but it is time to leave the hallowed halls of Union Manor and allow someone else the privilege of running this fine nation. Good night, and good luck, Vanuku. Fujiwara out. --- Article 0 Changes the name of the nation from "Union of Vanuku" to "National Corporation of Vanuku" |

Date | 01:36:18, October 12, 2007 CET | From | Party Party | To | Debating the A New Vanuku for the Future Act |
Message | Article 7 should be changed to an odd number. Articles 2-5 we cannot agree with. Article 6 we are apethetic about. |
Date | 01:59:36, October 12, 2007 CET | From | Vanuku Corporate Alliance | To | Debating the A New Vanuku for the Future Act |
Message | 2-5 are critical for the proposal. If not for those key articles, this proposal would not amount to anything special. We must not think in terms of how this bill will affect our standing amongst the parties. This is a bill to transform Vanuku! To give it character and identity distinct among the world! We alone will be the corporate nation, the nation where the business of business and the business of politics are together as one for the betterment of a new era of tomorrow! |

Random fact: The people in your nation don't like inactive parties. When you often abstain from voting for a bill, they will dislike your party and your visibility to the electorate will decrease significantly. Low visibility will means you are likely to lose seats. So keep in mind: voting Yes or No is always better than Abstaining. |
