Votes: This bill requests an early election. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline. Elections will be held immediately if the bill passes.

I know we just had one, and there's the 'no election before needed' tradition - but we have 32 unclaimed seats, so we may as well have one before we get onto the business of legislating, and this could benefit all parties...

Harsh? Maybe, but it is our job as representatives of the electorate to carry out the legislative process, and this cannot fully be done without all seats occupied... The five provinces are just as well represented by 228 seats as by 250. Legislation requires 114 seats instead of 125. It's not worth breaking the streak. Heck, it's not worth rousing the people out of their homes to go vote, or the money wasted campaigning, or anything. Once every three years is plenty. |
