Bill: Slippery Slope to Police State
Details
Submitted by[?]: Progressive Marxist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2099
Description[?]:
I find the curfew and any other option to be invasive to everyone's rights. I opposed the first bill and now I oppose the decentralization of the syste. One leads to discrimination, while the other is unfair to everyone. I propose an end to the curfew. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Curfew policy (curfew time to be determined in the bill description).
Old value:: Minors may not use streets or public property beyond the curfew time.
Current: The national government may impose curfews, but only if a state of emergency has been declared.
Proposed: No curfew policies may be established.

Message | I already asked people to comment on this option in my original bill (if you read it you would see). I am happy to abolish curfews and if the majoroty of people comment as such in answer to my question in the debate on my bill, then I will change the option and put it to vote. |

Message | What good are minors doing after midnight on the streets? They should be in bed. Or playing Guild Wars at home.... |

Message | Well, right now, a homeless youth can be arrested. You are right that they have no place there, but either do most adults. It is not up to the government to decide. The decentralization leads to discrimination against minorities and reminds me too much of Jim Crow laws. UCA, I did comment on yours. I had not read that it would be removed. |

Message | They can't be arrested, read the bill. They are to be returned to a parent of guardian. Street kids I hadn't considered when writing the bill currently in place, but I would assume they would be directed to a shelter or suitable substitute. |

Message | In many cases of homelessness, and abuse cases, it is safer for children to be on the streets, not everyone who are out on the streets after midnight are looking for trouble, i will support this. |

Message | The current system is untenable - it is simply a case of whether urfews should be used at all in crime prevention, I would say that they can be useful an should be an option but the PMP did higlight the grave potential for abuse which leads me therefore to also support the abolitioin of all curfews. Yes PMP my comment on my bill said that if that was what people felt, I would change the option to removing all curfews |
