Message | ""the people" elect the national government as well as local governments...." True, but under our current system of not allowing all states equal representation we end up with the majority of the people setting the standards for the minority. I really think judgments on a lot of laws can be better made, and better made to fit on a local level. Some policies would never work in certain areas, in others they would. Some areas disagree with others on controversial topics dealing with morality and religion, so why not let each of those area decide for themselves whats best? One size does not always fit all, which is what a lot of national laws and policies try to do. Therefor I feel with a lot of these more trivial issues, why not leave up to a more direct, local voice? It just makes sense. Besides, no one loses anything from limited devolution. Other than the rich federal bureaucrats who make up the central government, they do lose something. Power. Which I think is usually good. |
