Message | I would prefer to see fire departments controled by local governments, who are best placed to decide what resources they need. It also makes most sense to pay for fire prevention out of property tax revenues, collected at the local level, since the service benefits mainly property owners. |

Message | The GNP feel that by relying on volunteers, they may not be as reliable as full-time professionals as the volunteers will not be available 24/7, also, the full-timers will be better trained as it is their profession, and will therefore be able to train regularly. Its about reliability. If you was stuck in a burning building who would you want to turn up, volunteer fire-fighters, or full-time profession fire-fighters? Whose arms would you feel safer in being carried out of the house? |

Message | I think having local governments decide would be best. In some areas, such as rural farmlands and thick bushland, there may not be enough people to man a full-time fire brigade. Volunteers will need to be called in, especially when there are large bush fires. Cities can still have full-time firefighters, but we think it is too difficult to have full-time fire fighters in all areas. |

Message | Yes, we think that the local governments should control the fire department. |
