Message | The only problem with this would be that there would be no incentive to get a job. Why get a job when you can live a reason standard of life without one? |

Message | Family First prefers the status quo. We do not believe that income should be ensured by the government for an unlimited period of time. We do feel that a minimal income should be provided to individuals in severe circumstances, such as extreme illness or injury, etc, but we believe that this income should only be provided for a period of around 6 months, to ensure that the recipient is not simply free-loading, and also to ensure that they have some degree of incentive to find employment during that period. Without this incentive, individuals may be receiving tax-payers money for excessive lengths of time, exaggerating their unfortunate situation. We do not believe that this is fair to tax-payers. However, in the case of individuals with serious, life-long circumstances, such as incurable mental illness rendering them unfit for any place of employment, or other similar situations, Family First believes that ongoing financial assistance is required. We cannot support this legislation, and prefer the status quo. |

Random fact: Did you know you can change the official name of your nation? All you need to do is draw up a new name that is in accordance with the Nation Renaming Guide, pass a bill proposing the name change with a two-thirds majority and then post a request to Moderation on the "Renaming Requests" thread. You can change city and region names in this way too. |
