Bill: State Reform Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Theofascist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2101

Description[?]:

In the recent past, most notably in the discussion over the "One man, one vote" bill, it has become clear that our nation's epiteth of "confederacy" gives cause for some confusion and difficulty. This concerns mainly the issue of whether to give local governments more powers and if so, what these should be; as well as the question what the role should be of the regional representatives in the senate.

I feel we can only really solve this by reforming Kirlawa from a confederacy to a more unitary state, although this would not necessarily mean making Kirlawa into a fully centrally led state. The most obvious option, I feel, is to establish a republic.

My proposal, therefore: to have the name of our nation changed into "Republic of Kirlawa".

This bill needs a majority of two thirds of the *entire* legislature to pass.

MessageOkay we will support the forming of a Kirlawa Republic or a Kingdom of Kirlawa, if the voting system will be changed according to our one man one vote bill.

MessageI was browsing through some of our old pieces of legislation, and stumbed on the Federation Act (http://82.238.75.178:8085/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=10393). It passed with what was at the time a 2/3 majority. Unfortunately, that majority is now a minority of the legislature, so I guess the Federation Act can no longer be used to change our name.

So, anyone else in favour of "Kirlawa Republic"?

Messagethis shouldn't be a bill which will require a mere simple more yes votes than no. This is huge change.

MessageIf you'll read the last line of the description, you'll find it says the bill needs a two thirds majority. Else the admins won't change the nation name when we ask them to.

MessageBecause we - or at least I - don't want a confederacy. The actual meaning of a confederacy conflicts with what we as a legislature are doing; it is this conflict that this bill aims to eliminate.

MessageIn case of the confederate states you can put all policies: left to local governments.
The name Confederate States reminds me of the civil war, and these states wanted to keep slavery.
