Bill: Prostitutes
Details
Submitted by[?]: bran1322 Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2474
Description[?]:
One way to ignore a group's plight is to deny their very existence. Prostitution being the world's oldest profession should already tell you that it will exist and occur regardless of the public policy decision we make. These prostitutes are extremely vulnerable to diseases, violence, rape, robbery by not only the customers but also their pimps. If there is one group that needs the protection of health screenings and workplace safety regulations, it is prostitutes regardless of one's personal feelings about their profession. For society as a whole, if you don't catch the disease early, the prostitute could spread it to the general public. |

Message | Every year people get abducted and sold as sex slaves around the world. Although there are people willing to work as a seller of sex it doesn't justify that people are being unwillingly being used in prostitution. This worries the DLP, and we do not support this bill. The DLP is more willing to see prostitution as illegal until regulations can be made on this term. Pimps and human sellers should especially be put away for a long time. Against. For making prostitution illegal. |

Message | In an ideal utopian world, yes I agree they should be punished. Here's the problem though, we don't live in that world and we can't catch them all. Pimps and human sellers exist because there is a demand for sex and regardless of our good intentions, it will continue either with our watchful eye or in the shadows. My argument is by making it illegal we give the power to those very pimps and human sellers. Without government taking over and putting in protections for the prostitutes, the criminal element is free to take over and has done so. What this bill does is sheds light on the plight of those very abused prostitutes and gets them the legitimate care they need to protect themselves and the public. |

Random quote: Henceforth, the current system of first and second class stamps, where the rich can pay to have their mail delivered faster than the poor, shall be BANNED. There shall be only one class of mail delivery, and ALL mail shall travel at the SAME speed for EVERYBODY. There can be no class discrimination in the People's Post Office! There must be the SAME class of mail service FOR ALL! ~ Friedrich Pfeiffer General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party |
