MessageThere's no need for 717 seats, especially with the increasingly federalist system and the Senate. 100 would be far more appropiate.

MessageOOC: Plus there's the advantage I'll be able to do constituency maps, which are cool. :P

MessageCan't you do them for the Senate? That is elected on FTFP, after all....

MessageYou can even do them for the Provincial Assemblies if you want to, as they are on FPTP (spelt it right this time) too.

MessageRight. I still think that we should thin down the lower house, mind.

MessageWell, that makes sense. We think about 500 is a good number. 501? You'd need 251 for a majority, and 334 to get a constitutional change through.

Message501 seems quite good, yes. How about 299? 150 for a majority, 200 for any changes. Plus it means we have less people per representative in the provincial assemblies.

MessageOOC: We can, of course, vary the number of seats in each province or in the Senate. I just used 100 as it's easier to plug into my Excel spreadsheet. But it's adaptable to any number of seats really.

MessageHaving fought tooth-and-nail to prevent the 717-member body, we will also fight tooth-and-nail to keep it =)

MessageWe will support this, but we will not agree to a snap election simply because the number of seats is going to change.
