Description[?]:
Only a few strands of hair peaked out from beanth Fatima al-Wazir's head-scarf. Still, she brushed them aside from her eyes before rising to address the Majelis. "My fellow Majatrans, "Decency has passed away from our land. The institutions of the state have been seized to repress freedom of thought. There are no longer the freedoms that we have taken for granted in this United Majatran Republic. "The UPU makes one more effort to achieve freedom of thought and freedom of conscience through parliamentary means. Let there be no mistaking our intention, however. The laws of God and the laws of Mohammad (peace be upon him) are higher than the laws of any state, higher than the laws of any man. The United Majatran Republic is a sacred thing, an institution that we have struggled together to build. Fools and fascists have called for a suspension of our constitution. "With laws and society shattered by the fascist threat from within, only the laws of God remain. We call upon the Majelis to allow God's people to live in God's light. If the Majelis refuses, there will be no option but to renounce its authority." She paused for a moment, looking around her. She refused to even glance in the direction of the IngSoc benches. "Peace be upon you, if this be our last meeting. Peace be upon all who reject godless fascism." |

Message | This press message was released by the Government of the United Majatran Republic of Socialist Al'Badara. In the name of God, the compassionate, the merciful: The Majelis has usurped its authority in presuming to ban religion. To our friends overseas and to the people of God within this country, we say: the ban on religion in the United Majatran Republic of Al'Badara, we hope, will be only temporary. Message | Haji Abdul Khadr, minister of education, rose to make a statement to the Majelis: "The laws of God are in all ways superior to the laws of man. "The madrassahs of the UMR are a vital component of the educational system. The Majelis has committed a grave error in banning them and in banning religion. Therefore, in my capaciity as minister, I have ordered that no action be taken to close madrassahs. The law passed by the Majelis banning religious schools remains on the statute books. However, it shall not be implemented by this ministry at this time." A gasp of shock went up from some legislators. It was hardly standard practice for a cabient minister to state that a law was being defied. In fact, it was highly questionable whether he had the right. Amidst cries of "shame, the Haji continued speaking. "If the UPU legislation restoring freedom of thought is passed, then all shall be well. If it is not, I shall of course tender my resignation to the Majelis. What I will not do under any circumstances is be the minister who implements an evil law closing down religious schools." |

Message | Godwin mimed a violin player with his hands. "So, you refuse to obey the democratic rulings of the Majelis because of your parties ideological objections? You commitment to democracy is surly very great!" Laughter burst from the IngSoc benches. Godwin leered at Haji. "I hope you have a peaceful retirement. We have great plans for education, they involve the creation of a joiner anti-sex league. I thought you would like it." Haji lowered his gaze distastefully as the laughter of IngSoc, as well as other party members, filled the house. Godwin left the podium to a chorus of "As-Salamu Alaykum!". |

Message | ooc: haha, violins are funny. Posted. The Haji felt the blood rising to his cheeks. It was all he could do to stop himself from spitting his anger across the floor. "It seems, my dear fascist friend, you do not know the meaning of our national motto," he said as softly as he could muster. "Peace, it's a harder path than shouting." |

Message | Alexander stood from his seat, and faced Godwin. "So the leader of IngSoc is insulting the UPU's commitment to democracy, and this country itself? The very same leader that banned more freedoms then there are seats in the Majelis is criticizing a party that has worked as hard if not harder than the PPF itself to preserve our people's freedoms? Someone has surely put you up to this because the Godwin I was told of was supposedly "Honest and Fair". Alexander awaited the other party leader's response. |
