Bill: Equality and the Corruption of Humanity, December 2476

Details

Submitted by[?]: Computational Intellect Project

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2477

Description[?]:

(1) Humanity by its own nature is not evil, but is corrupted by the society in which it is raised. Were we to raise all children in state institutions, this problem would alleviate because these concepts of corruption, waste, and prejudice would not hereditarily pass down from their parents as they do now.

(2) When children are raised by parents, this is an inherently unequal system, as some parents are rich, and some are poor; giving some children a better advantage when they start life on their own.

We are all for a free market and a socially mobile society, but this is not possible unless childhoods become standardized. We promise that if children are raised by us, these children will have better childhoods than even some of the best childhoods now. Every child would receive an equal educational and occupational opportunity; social classes would divide off and become stratified after the children make decisions with regard to their education and their occupations, all based upon the personality qualities of the child.

Some people, by their birth, are designed for success more than others. However, this system of Social Darwinism is currently not perfected as opportunities are not equal. There are a lot of very rich people that don't deserve their wealth, but merely inherited it, and a lot of homeless people that once had the talents and the abilities to become some of the most successful people in Barmenistan, but they simply were never given the opportunities or chances required to achieve such amazing feats we see in everyday people.

If this were to pass, and this system came into effect, parents would of course be allowed to visit their children and vice versa not unlike boarding schools and college, yet the opportunities of each and every child would be equal; then those with true talent and aptitudes would succeed, regardless of who their parents are, and those without talent, aptitude, or will power, regardless of how lucky their parents might be, would be doomed to the lowest classes of society, where they rightfully belong.

As always, please leave as much constructive criticism or logical disagreeing argument as possible.

MessageThis is totally insane. Why should the State not only decide how children are raised but actually raise them? Taking children away from thier families to state institutions implies to me:

1) A lack of consideration for the emotions of the Parents.
2) Communism
3) Brainwashing (through the feeding of propaganda through the insitituions)

Message"1) A lack of consideration for the emotions of the Parents."

Banning inheritance would be inconsiderate to their emotions, but that would be the best thing for society. once you're dead you're dead; you deserve no control over what happens after death. And, inheritance only aids in the creation of aristocracy, permanent class divisions, mass inequality, and general problems for all. We don't care how rich you get; you should be free to be the richest man on Earth, and participate in more conspicuous consumption than anyone else on Earth, BUT 100 PERCENT OF THE MONEY YOU MAKE AND SPEND SHOULD HAVE BEEN PRODUCED BY YOUR OWN HANDS AND NO ONE ELSES'!

"2) Communism"

Actually no. After one reaches the age of majority, they are free to enter the world of the free market and make whatever success out of life he/she wishes. This merely makes sure that everyone is equal until the age of majority, and everyone is provided equal opportunity for success and life; no one would (and no one should) be born with more advantage than another.

"3) Brainwashing (through the feeding of propaganda through the insitituions)"

That is why we are opposed to any form of public education, but rather a system in which all schools are privately run and unregulated but paid for by the state for everyone (we tried to pass such a bill, but hypocritically, you were one of the parties that voted it down). We are also against state owned libraries, museums, and cultural sights, but would rather the state contract this to unregulated companies (which you also hypocritically voted down). In this system, a student would go to the private, unregulated school of his/her choice, and the state institution would just be a provider. Outside of school, while there would be a certain amount of discipline, the student would generally be free to do what he/she wished, so long as it is in the bounds of the law. There would be no curfew, but the student would have to sleep in a state institution (not necessarily his/her own) for some time during each night, and would be punished if late to school because of oversleeping.

And besides, once adults, there is no censorship or content regulation. In fact, as long as it is not slander or libel, media can basically publish or view anything, even proven falsehoods, hate media, or pornography, through any media during any time of day, with no restrictions. So really, no. Even with this bill, there would be no brainwashing. All this is is making sure that rich kids don't have any sort of special advantage in opportunity in life over, for example, orphans.

Random fact: "Game mechanics comes first." For example, if a currently-enforced bill sets out one law, then a player cannot claim the government has set out a contradictory law.
