Terry Vander, Transport and Infrastructure Minister

The United Jakinia Dept. of Transportation (UJDOT) has proposed the following projects that needs federal funds. These are all long-term project to serve Jakinia better.

Article 1: Mass Transit Construction
a. Construction of a high-speed Maglev line throughout the country with the construction of stations in each province.
b. Use of Bus Rapid-Transit (BRT) to provide high-speed wheeled transport on a provincial scale. No BRT will cross into another province but transfers can done.
c. Research of options for dense urban areas: Subways, light rail, streetcars, electric buses
d. Funding of Regional Transit Hubs and lesser Park & Rides

Cost: $300 billion in total funding, currently need $150 billion over 10 years for first phase of Maglev and completion of BRT's.

Article 2: Interstate Highways
a. Expansion of urban freeways to 10 lanes, includes HOV lanes and specific offramps and onramps designated for HOV only.
b. Construction of an interchangeable Express Lanes of 4 lanes, includes one HOV lane, in all major urban areas.
c. Improvements to congested interchanges using innovative engineering techniques like the one-point interchanges, roundabouts, etc.
d. Increase use of jersey barriers, guardrails, cable barriers to provide safety on rural interstates
e. Nationwide construction of rest stops, building 30 miles outside of existing urban areas and built 30-40 miles apart in rural areas. Funding and construction in partnership of the local governments.
f. Use of interstate corridor for future use of light rail, Maglev, bus only right-of-ways.
g. Upgrading Interstate Safety Standards Guidelines: 6% grades max., curves must be taken at maximum interstate speeds of 60 to 70 mph to prevent slowdowns and increased dangers, tunnel emergency evacuation plans, yearly bridge inspections to prevent massive bridge failures, use of Runaway Truck ramps on mountain passes, and electronic information signs.

Cost: $150 billion, needing 65 billion for start of construction.

Article 3: Local Government Designated Provincial Highways
a. Partially funding of improvements of Provincial Highways throughout United Jakinia

Cost: $25 billion

Article 4: Airports
a. Expansion of current airports to expand current user levels
b. Research and planning of new airports to relieve heavy demands of air travel at current airports
c. Improving current technologies in airport taxiway control and air traffic control
d. Improvements of access to and from airport via ground transport
e. Air freight improvements, cost-study analysis.
f. Improvements of airport security

Cost: $50-200 billion, starting construction funds needed: $50 billion

Article 5: Seaports
a. Improvements of conventional rail and highway access to seaports
b. Increased use of enforcement of logging in foreign cargo and inspection
c. Increased measures of seaport security
d. Studies of improvements of increasing efficiency at seaports

Cost: $9.5 billion

Article 6: Daily Operation
a. cost of covering day to day operations for the next 4 years
$35 billion

Total cost: $569.5 to 719.5 billion over the next 25 years
