Bill: Let Them Be STUPID Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Kapitalist-Arbeitsfamilien Partei
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2478
Description[?]:
This bill simply modifies our environmental energy as to give the good citizens of Likatonia have the FREEDOM to CHOOSE--[like women have during a pregnancy termination]--to buy and/or use an old fashioned "gas guzzler" of the DINOSAUR AGE or the more sophisticated, sleek, and CHEAPER cars of the 25th Century with State-of-the-Art renewable and solar energy. This bill is AMENDED as follows (although "technically" the mechanics of the game will not allow this "Amendment" to be a "real law," per say, I ask if the game participants can use their IMAGINATION): (1) The Federal Government levies a strigent (strict) CARBON TAX on ALL energy substances that use the Dinosaur Fossil Fuels to act as an Economic DETERRENT on pollution and Global Warming. Distinguished economists, such as Dr. Fiona Maclachlan, call this a Negative Externality. (2) According to the CURRENT laws of Likatonia (check the Legislative Page), the Federal Government ALREADY gives economic INCENTIVES to citizens to use environmental friendly fuels such as Solar, Cellulose/"grassroots"/Sugar Cane/Corn-based Ethanol, Hydro (water), Bio-Diesel, etc.; economists call this a Positive Externality. Thank you for your full support. |

Message | Absolutely not. Whilst we respect the right of the individual to choose certain things, we do not believe that it is an undeniable right to allow any person the opportunity to damage the environment and degrade the quality of life for everyone else. |

Message | DWP, Yes I understand your position and I respect WHOLEHEARTEDLY!!! However, the bill is specifically AMENDED to heavily TAX Fossil Fuels like coal and gasoline etc. In realtiy, the people--based on the economic laws of supply and demand--will VOLUNTARILY trade in their gas-guzzlers for renewable energy cars since the price of those cars will be 3x CHEAPER!!! However, even in the CONDITION that the people "absorb the higher cost" out of their own stubborn pride, that means that Government revenues (specifically, the SIZE of Government) will expland exorbitantly thus energizing your SOCIALIST BASE!!! Either way, you WIN!!! |
