Bill: Taxing of goods and profit

Details

Submitted by[?]: Parti de Garde Royales

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2483

Description[?]:

If we want Lourenne to boost with high-tech industries, or any kind of industries, we should not tax them as much, in stead we should put a sale tax on ordinary goods.

With more industries, the competition will rise and the prices will fall, so the sale tax will hardly be noticed.

I propose we lover the profit tax to 10%, and raise the goods tax with 5%.

Thomas Larsen - Minister of Trade & Industry

MessageFive percent is not much. Basic items are not expensive, and add five percent to an inexpensive product does not make it inaffordable. Besides revenues from this could be spent on health care, making it cheaper for the entire population, so they'd have more money freed.

It's all about redestribution. And since most government fund schemes are directed to the low income households, they would certainly get their money back, and then some. Though not in cash of course.

MessageIt would be easier and probably more beneficial to raise the luxury goods tax. But, my arm has been twisted. You have our support.

MessageIīm not going to vote a raise of the first neccesary products.
Itīs posible a lover of the profit tax builds more industries. But a raise of the luxury tax itīs better.
We dont vote this vill, increases the social diference in actual point.

MessageWe should not lower taxes on corporations in the first place, but making up for it by taxing people on essentials is wrong.

MessageI will not support a raise in the luxury tax. It is high enough as it is. If it is raised no one will buy jewelery, nice furniture, TV's, PC's, and cars (we have a great mass transportation). Everyone should have the opportunity to buy these - not only the wealthy. Besides, it would not bring in much money, which we need, as we are about to nationalize health care.

But thank you for your support

MessageThe economy can do without taxes on essentials. The corporate tax reduction is however much too steep. As a temporary measure we shall support it, but expect for us to propose a new bill soon.
