Bill: Phone Prices Deregulation

Details

Submitted by[?]: Free Populists

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2100

Description[?]:

We see no need to regulate the phone industry, especially because it is failing -- we have no rural phone service. We believe by freeing phone companies to charge different rates, they may bring this seeming essential service more widely. However, we continue, and adamantly, to support subsidies for low-income people.

MessageAs we are desperately in need of telecommunications infrastructure, and the only alternative appears to be for the Government to foot the entire bill, we reluctantly agree to telecommunications deregulation. My preference would be to have a telecommunications monopoly, where fees are standardised across the country, but, regrettably, that option does not exist.

MessageIt is, given our current disastrous telecommunications situation, our only reasonable option. The status quo is certainly not.
