Bill: Military Purchase Request, June 2483

Voting deadline: March 2484

Description[?]:

"We only have 440 space-capable military aircraft in the Air/Space Force. It is for these reasons that I, Adam Anderson, Minister of Defense, request of this legislature the right to purchase the parts required to construct 2,500 space-capable fighter aircraft and 1,250 space-capable bomber aircraft for the Air/Space force and begin manufacturing them with government facilities. The parts are available from friendly foreign governments, and many of them shall be produced in government defense factories with resources in our own mines, so we only have to pay the workers.

The estimated cost of this is 4 million BAR per space-capable fighter aircraft and 3 million BAR per space-capable bomber aircraft. This amounts to a total of 13.75 billion BAR out of the annual 25 billion BAR defense budget. If necessary, further defense money, should the defense budget be used up, could be gathered out of the immense surplus stockpile, as we are a very wealthy nation with a very wealthy government, and have had surpluses since the beginning of our nation.

We request 14 billion however, to pay the immense amount of contractors required to organize such a job, and also to pay for the training of the new pilots.

Thank you very much for your time.
I hope you consider my request well."

-Minister of Defense-

MessageThat is, he meant, 14 billion in total. Not 14 billion just for the contractors. 250 million would go to contractors and training new pilots.

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature.
