Message | Everyone please read the bill carefully. It says not to maintain an age purchase limitation, but, it maintains that the companies clearly label their games with a rating. If a parent were to see this rating then they would know what kind of game they are playing. |

Message | UCC why do you oppose this? This makes parents aware of what their children are buying. What' s wrong with that? No parent wants to go and sit down with eveyrone of their childrens' games and play them allt the way through, this is a harmless way for the parents to see quickly what the game has in it. |

Message | We oppose this because we see this as unnecessary regulation. Parents SHOULD have greater involvement in the lives of their children, whether it be their education or their video games. Private corporations need not play the role of parent. We respect your point of view and your good intentions, we just fundamentally disagree about the proper role of private corporations. |

Message | We are not asking the corporations to play the role of the parents. No one did. However, not all parents are involved! I understand conservative ideology but it does not work! Just because it's something you believe parents should do dosen't mean they will all do it, yes I believe that parents should be involved with the lives of their children, but not all parents are going to sit down with their children 24/7 and see what they're playing, no parent would do that, there are themes in games that take a long time to progress to.But my greater question is why do you think they should have an awareness sticker on it? When some hear regulation they think of socialism, well I don't I think of something that should be corrected, and this is something that they should have. This is not going to bankrupt a company because of an awareness sticker, actually if you think about it, this would further your ideology. If parents are aware by looking at the game rating then they won't buy a graphic game! Mr. Speaker because there is no legislation regarding this issue and no rating system intact does not mean that parents will get involved with the lives of their children anyway, more likely the children will just buy the game with no parent awareness at all, and the violence and graphic natures of the game will make it's way inside a child's mind. Mr. Speaker for you and your party it is a win win situation and there is no downside but pride that keeps you from changing you opinion on this issue. |

Message | Pride has nothing to do with this. It has to do with principle. We do not think what you propose is horrible or socialistic, we just prefer the policy to remain as it is. |

Message | And for what reason? Against all the evidence and messages this bill clearly offers you still vote no? |
Date | 01:34:22, November 14, 2007 CET | From | Centre Démocratique | To | Debating the The Parental Video Game Awareness Act of 2484 |
Message | The reason is we support limited regulation of the economy and do not see an overwhelming need for video game makers to be forced to develop a ratings system. |

Message | What??? Parents buying games and not knowing what they have in it and the children playing them is a need we must have. |
